Weekly training schedule - Winter

Tuesday
(New venue from 5 January 2010)
7:15pm. Meet at West Park Road, a turning off Horton Lane, near Christ Church Road. We do a number of repetitions (intervals) over distances from 200 metres to 1600 metres. All levels can participate and beginners may do less repetitions until they are used to the pace.

Thursday
7.15 pm. Meet at the Car Park in Cheam Road, Ewell Village (opposite Cheam Motors). This is a training run of approximately six miles. A slower group usually sets off 5 minutes in advance and runs 8 - 9 minute mile pace. Please wear some light or reflective clothing as the run is on public roads.

Saturday
8:30 am. Court Recreation Ground, Lower car park, Pound Lane
This is a good opportunity for newcomers to attend. There are usually two groups, one slower paced running about 3 - 4 miles and another at a faster pace over 5 - 7 miles, but again stopping as necessary. We will run off-road, except in exceptionally bad weather. Epsom Common and Horton Country Park are favourites.

Sunday
Many Sundays are race days and there is no regular venue. We will however organise some training for those taking part in the London Marathon, from January through to April, and from time to time will arrange special runs from other locations, for example in the Leatherhead - Bookham area. Details will be published in the newsletter or can be confirmed by attending one of the other training sessions.

Notes on Thursday evening run - Winter schedule

The club rotates Thursday night training around 3 routes each of which are run in both reverse and the 'normal' way. Please can members familiarise themselves with these routes. This is important for safety reasons. If Club members do find themselves running late on a Thursday they may wish to run the route in the opposite direction to the Club in order to try and meet up half way round.

Below is the schedule of routes used for Thursday evening training. Click on a route in the table below for a map of the route:

Week 1Longmead - 'Normal Way'
Week 2Asda - Normal
Week 3Banstead - Normal
Week 4Longmead - Reverse
Week 5Asda - Reverse
Week 6Banstead - Reverse
Week 7Longmead - Normal

And so on..................

There are usually 2 groups, with the slower group setting off at 7:10.

Please note: next Thursday evening run is on 11 March 2010, using route ASDA - Reverse.
